Masking .. a little help please.

Okay guys, here's the next topic I need help with ... MASKING!

I know there are several different ways, tape, silly putty, liquid latex ... could some kind souls let me know what the best ways and techniques using each of these are? Are there any brands of liquid latex or tape that are better than others?

I'm going to talk to Dan, because this would make for a GREAT article for Kit Builders.

I use Blue painters tape for delicate surfaces when I am painting and need to keep my lines strait and thin. With SP its thick enough that I usually have to go over edges again. When I have room to spare I used SP because its a great time saver.
I tried the latex once and that was enough for me.

Same here Rick .. I tried it after seeing David Fisher use it on his DVD's but that stuff SUCKED ... I didn't know if it was the stuff in general, or if it was the specific brand I was using.

Just be sure to detack the painters tape before you use it.I do this by sticking it to my shirt or pants before I tear it into small pieces before I use em.

Oh and another thing I have found is when some casting come in and are made with that real slick white resin I have found to not use tape at all as the paints don't bond real well and tape will pull all your work off.
This is another thing I learned the hard way

Mostly masking take but sometimes handytacks, they can be harder to take off than SP but they form finer edge.
