1/6 R2-D2

1/6 R2-D2 - Hot Toys

Compared to the SideShow R2-D2, the Hot Toys R2 makes sounds + the dome is made from metal.

I'll take the turned metal finished of the HT compared to the silver paint of the SS R2. I look forward to getting this R2 and doing a side by side comparison with SS. Too bad this is a TFA version so there is none of R2's additional arms and scopes.

I have the Sideshow - R2-D2 Deluxe, which is pretty good. Lights, no sound. While silver painted head looks ok, the join lets it down. Hot Toys going to the effort of metal + sound, 2 thumbs up to them for going the whole distance. I'm not even sure the life-size SS R2 makes noise?

This would have been an instant purchase for me if it wasn't for the insane price.

The photos don't show a base for the figure. While it doesn't need a stand, it should come with a nameplate base so it can be at the proper level when displayed with other figures.
