Marvel's Getting Conan Back in 2019
According to CBR, Marvel's picked up the license to publ. Conan again after 15 years of the Barbarian being over at Dark Horse. Not sure why Dark Horse gave the big guy up, but I can only imagine that Marvel was willing to pay more.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. Dark Horse has, for the most part, done a great job with R.E. Howard's Conan, dropping the ball a few times, but, on the whole, I've loved what Kurt Busiek started so many years ago.
Still, Marvel had some glorious Conan interpretations in their time too.

Dark Horse was able to go more violent & I appreciated that but ... Marvel's B&W Savage Sword did the violence proud as well.
I guess we'll see & I'll be looking forward to what both companies have to say concerning the coming & going of CONAN!

I wonder if Marvel will just end up buying Dark Horse outright at some point since Dark Horse currently publishes comics based on several Fox properties.

Yeah, I was thinking about that. Dark Horse put out a killer Conan Omnibus called The Colossal Conan of the 1st 50 issues of the run. & I know they're now putting out hdbk collections of everything. They also put out softback numbered collections of all of Curtis/Marvel's Savage Sword of Conan magazines which were fantastic! Now...I betcha Marvel will pop out huge Omnibus collections of everything. Hopefully this will happen. Can you imagine a King Conan Omnibus!
* honestly, the way this guy rides a horse.

I was not surprised when Star Wars returned to Marvel, but this got my attention! Wow.
Conan got off to a phenomenal start at Dark Horse, but the momentum has slowed considerably, so if Marvel can do him justice once again, then I'm all for it.

I agree. But, on occasion, DH would & still does hiccup out a great 3-parter, 1-shot or arc, which would win me back.
Marvel did the same thing w/ Conan in their color comics & even w/ Savage. I'm sure it'll happen again, but hopefully not for a few years.

As PC as Marvel & most companies have become in the past 10 years. I wonder how Marvel will tackle many of Conan's outside interests as well as the violence. Conan was written in the 1920's after all.
