Prime 1 Studios is close to Fukushima, you say? Is that the headquarters, or the actual factory? Because the factory is what would matter. I assumed the factory was in China like every other studio. And if that's the case, your concerns are moot.

Regardless, while Fukushima was the same level disaster as Chernobyl (Level 7, the worst), it apparently released (and continues to release) far lower radiation levels than Chernobyl. 10-40% that of Chernobyl, from what I've read. And the major danger was to those nearby during the incident, as well as the soil and produce/livestock. None of these would matter relating to statue production, so I agree with Python's sentiments.

I figured this would spark the tin cap view, but I suppose I was way over thinking it. I just wondered if anyone curious enough to test a statue from Japan.

Yeah but why would anybody test a statue that was made in China? I would think of testing it for other stuff in the paint way before radiation.

Haha actually I feel better hearing it's made in China. I didn't know that.

you shouldn't be, you're worried about potential small amounts of radiation that is far less then smoking a cigarette vs the potentially toxic materials that go into making a statue :P

It really is confusing to truly know how much of the radiation leaked. There are conflicted reports from everyone, media outlets and governments. Some say the core melted through concrete containment unit and through the earth and contaminated the the Pacific Ocean. Some say it didn’t and only contaminated the water that they used to cool the core.

There were readings in California they say of radiation. Not very high but that the radiation did reach America.

Yes it did reach USA but just barely measurable and that was expected.

It's very important to note that exposure is also about the type of radiation, distance and time.

Let's say you got a hot statue, it has been activated.
Nobody is going to sleep while holding a statue.

They also do check imports for radioactivity, part of anti-terror efforts.
Banana shipments have tripped detectors, they are sensitive enough.

So they do actually sort of monitor things.

As far as the unlikely scenario of an activated statue....
I would bet most people have hotter items in their homes already. Tritium glow in the dark products for instance. Smoke detectors. Etc.

Now back to the real concerns... monkeys and robots!!!

Well if they ever make Godzilla statues, those are supposed to be radio active.
