He looks fine in front of partisan crowds. He has not yet figured out inside himself how he is supposed to lead the people that agree with him 100% and those that do not match up with his approach to governing quite as much.
These are the kind of things he would be doing better with if he had actually authored a piece of major legislation and had to push it through the Senate, House, and reconciliation committee. I think he'll be sorry he waited until now to push any of his ideas instead of making some attempts earlier.
