I'm not saying PCS promised anything beyond what was shown in the video.
Does it really increase the cost of production that much or is PCS just taking a lazy approach?

Why is it a "lazy" approach though? Variants by their very nature imply cost cutting. Just an extra $100 changes potential sales and everything else.
It is supposed to be a realistic defined leg or just an animated VG leg? The legs also double as sweats/leggings for the variant.
Sure they could have sculpted a separate lower half for each statue. Probably not very expensive but then the factory would have charged more to have another tooling piece to make molds for.
The question is kinda rhetorical as "money" solves nearly all superficial problems but who should pay? PCS or customers? I'll give you a hint: anything a company does is paid for by its customers whether they charge separately or not. So either all the statues would have cost more or just the bare leg variant.
Was this criticism around when this was being showcased?

Well, the guy uploads vertical videos to YouTube, after all.
Here's the link, by the way:

Thanks qz33, so most likely we would have pay about 100 dollars extra.
As for is extra muscle definition worth the extra cost? Don't know, maybe it would have been impressive enough to be worth the extra price if it was done right.
I understand everything already cost more these days, so cutting cost is important. Just was wondering, that is all.
And yeah, this youtube video is terrible in terms of how it was shot and that there is no view from the back.
Also, as mention before, the guy is clearly upset about something that wasn't in the original release pictures. He should have done his research better.
It's always the hope that a statue turns out better, however, there are plenty of times they turn out worse then exceptions and that is not happening here. What PCS showed is what they sent out, at least from the front anyhow, can't speak for the back yet. lol

You seem to not get what the reviewer was implying. That this piece is so cheap looking and outdated that it should have cost 300 bucks at most in the FIRST PLACE.
Well, make it 50 bucks, pal. This looks so simple, so outdated and so cheap that even 300 bucks is reaching. IN THE FIRST PLACE he seemed to imply.
Nevertheless, it is his opinion (and a grounded one, if you ask me). Why are you all mocking him? Is he not allowed to his opinion having the piece in front of him? Crazy times
