Ultimate X-Men Annual #1
Quick question:
Anyone got this issue? Who did the cover?
Tom Raney is credited, but only for the inside.
Thanks

Saw at the LCS yesterday but only picked up UXMen the last 2 issues and the end to Wolverine, and Ultimates. Will get this when I head back.

According to the Newsarama preview section:
http://www.newsarama.com/forums/show...threadid=41369
The cover is done by Stuart Immonen, the regular artist on Ultimate X-Men.

Thanks, ML, that's what my brother was thinking, so I guess he's right again

I like the way you talk about this guy (quote is from your review), he's very underappreciated, but one of the best imo. And don't forget, he's in this biz for more than 15 years already!!!

Tom Raney was at the TOP of my list for the complete comic artist. his Outsiders run was great and not just pretty, it was ON TIME. one entire year, a couple of fill-in breaks and never a delay. he is very underappreciated. he's an artists artist. the guy know what he's doing.
current beef with his work...MARVEL ****s on another great artist again. the colorists suck, and usually they hire the worst inkers for the best pencilers. anyone see the puke-fest that's LIQUID colors and MIKI inks over Larroca's hot-a$$ pencils...i own some Larroca pages, non-inked Xtreme X-men stuff, it's sweet. i bought an inked page from X-Men...blehhh Marvel is dropping the ball.

Yeah, an inker can really ruin an artists work. If you've got a working team, don't change it! Look at Raney, he's had Hanna as inker at DC as well as Marvel, and they work great together.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Larocca is an interesting artist to me... he's very hit or miss IMO in his work. Some of his covers are just phenominal, and it seems to me that he nails the characters when they're in costumes, but out of costume or sometimes even suited up his people can look very ugly... big dwarvish noses, heavy facial creases, etc. It's irritating to me, especially when some of this panels are just astounding. Can't ever tell if I love it or hate it.
