Wireless Cable Connection Help

yes I took the router out of the loop and connected PC directly to cable modem. It can be done through the router though it sometimes does not reconginze the IP. If you go through the router ensure your firewalls are turned off until you get it back up then you can reinitialize the firewall.

Thanks man, I will try it when I get home....do you think someone is using my network and that is why?

How can I block other people?

See my wireless card is picking up another network also but there is a lock...

that shouldn't effect you, just unplug the modem and then restart your computer, plug the modem in the modem as it starts up and it should be fine,
this happened to me and when I called they told me the same thing and it worked fine

Unless your ip is static, u can renew ur own IP Address.
I would try what I stated earlier. Do each step individually. Wait for each thing b4 you do the next.

If you need to check your ip address you can goto
Start->run->type "cmd" no quotations

then you can type "ipconfig" this will get you ur ipaddress
then you can type "ipconfig /release" this will release ur ipaddress
then to renew your ipaddress type "ipconfig /renew"

This may or may not work, but if you have Comcast (which I do) that is what I do every once in a while.

depends on your network card. Look to see what brand then do a search on their website to secure your wireless network connection.
