She's coasted by because guys just couldn't pass at the chance of hiring her despite her lack of knowledge?
That'd be the most realistic to me.

Just as a curious discussion while we wait:

Other than some variation of the first movie's plot of military guys slowing discovering they are being hunted by an alien what else could a Predator movie be about?

A coming of age story about a boy connecting with his father in a way he never has before as he finds out he’s the key to saving humanity.

Researching the psychology of porn. It works right into Predator research.

Exactly.

Sequels are hard for Aliens and Predator because they rely so much on suspense and unawareness that it can't help but become either repetitive...

or just plain suck.

This trailer didn´t get me super excited, but it also didn´t make me think that this will necessarily be bad. It was just a teaser, so it´s hard to judge, but the visuals actually look better than I tought they would. Will be keeping an eye on this.

Some bag on it but I quite liked Predators. To me that took the core sport hunting element of the Predators and put a unique spin on it.

As far as moving onto something original now I’d like to see the focus on the Predators and their history of hunting across multiple timelines. Something that was hinted at in the original film through dialogue and more directly in the P2 climax aboard the Predator ship when you saw the trophies on display. The problem is they want to focus on the human element in these continuations over the Predators themselves. Similar to how the Transformer films have been handled. That gets stale pretty fast.

Great question, and one I was wondering if would be brought up while writing my last reply.

I was going to add previously, that it is the one reason why I could cut Black some slack for this plot. But only a little, because in truth, I don't believe that there are many (if any) ways to follow-up the premise successfully (for most fans of the original).

Obviously, an IP holder and film studio will try to expand in any way possible, and that is who Black serves. To continue to make money, the story must evolve, or more likely, essentially be reinvented. Some stories should just end though, to preserve their integrity. The lure of the great creature design and mythos is just too much to resist however.

I think Predators was really pretty good, and the only other movie worthy of acknowledging. I believe their one misstep was in regards to their handling of the Super Predators.

Prior to the movie being released, I had read about their goal, which as the movie title implies, was to ape the success of Aliens with respect to Alien. What did they do there? They introduced the Queen. A previously unknown variation, and a superior one at that.

I think the mistake was being so literal in their application. The Queen is superior to the drones. The Super Predator is portrayed as superior to the original Predator designs. But they're not comparable situations. After one movie in each franchise, it was obvious one alien was mindless, with no personality - a simple tool to be used. The other is more intelligent; advanced; uses tools.

The end result in the 'Predators' case, is that the original beloved Jungle Hunter now comes off as 'inferior', instead of just 'different'. They should have played up the differences, instead of a blatant superiority. It goes against the movie sequel adage of "bigger, better, faster", but I think it would have lent itself to a better, longer lasting narrative.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Let's not forget, the jungle Hunter was not 100% in that fight. Wolf would of owned Berserker.

I really enjoyed Predators as well. It isn't perfect but it is definitely the one that seems to have to understood what makes the original so appealing the most. But like HB said, a new direction for the concept of these galaxy spanning hunters is needed to make this franchise refreshing again. I'm not ready to completely disregard this new film since it may at least provide a decent distraction for one night. However, it is evident it isn't going to push the franchise forward in any sort of positive way.

The mercs and regular predators will team up and defeat the hybrids/badbloods.
