I wanted to like this guy sooo bad. To me it doesn't look like a gloss issue, it's his skin texture that the problem. I mean it looks like cooked hamburger.

I hope glossing cleans up some of the texture issues as well. Maybe it's the way the light is reflecting or not reflecting due to lack of gloss? Texture looks a bit off as more photos are released.

Oooooohh that's what happened. They knew everyone wanted McFarlane and they accidentally gave us the texture of Spawn's face!

I was so excited for this but no McFarlane Head is a bummer. I would have taken a bagley head too, but this modern head doesn't look like the Venom i like. Then the skin texture. McFarlane wasn't like that. Even if there is a McFarlane head as exclusive it doesn't look right on this cooked hamburger venom. And last but not least, why is Venom always so little if it is a modern incarnation. The modern Venom is a beast, McFarlane is smaller, this isn't right on every level.
I also don't get why it is so hard to get Carnage head, especially the teeth right. I hoped for a more maximum carnage version, but sadly.

I cannot believe it took the XM fanatics this long to start ripping the SS venom. Come on guys, pick your game up and start ripping on these SS pieces when the first pics go up.
If this statue had XM instead SS on the base, "it would be the greatest Venom of all time."

I like Carnage a lot, but as photos trickled out throughout the day of Venom the texturing of his body started bothering me more and more. Seems a bit overkill. A smoother body with some symbiotic "veining" would have been all that is needed. I like he pose and base alot. Maybe SS will take some suggestion and clean him up a bit.
