6 issues with a fat finale that finished last week, what did the folks who read it think of Millar World's latest,
Reborn? For those of you not in the know,
Reborn picked up as a tale of an old lady (Bonnie) right after she dies in her 70's/80's & we, the readers, follow her journey into the afterlife.
The book started off with a bang. I'm not sure I've ever read a comic dealing with what happens when we die, but this one, at least in the 1st 2 issues, sure did. I loved it! Then ... the book deflated just a bit & became more a straight up Fantasy/Sword 'n Sorcery tale filled with reincarnated folks & critters on a plane of reality that came after death. Millar hinted that
Reborn would become a tv series & I've read that the comic would be adapted into a novel. Once again, I give Millar major points for balls. He, imo, goes against the grain in his story-telling & always grabs my attention at first. I stayed with
Reborn for the full run and am really glad I did. Beautiful art by Greg Capullo.
