Totally true but this statue just isn't my kind of definitive representation for a regular Ryu even if not going for a classic/traditional Ryu style. Not really sure why I feel that way.
Nothing "wrong", nothing that should have been done "better" just how it is for me.

Totally agree and this poll so far supports that.
I think this statue fits Evil Ryu best. Maybe it's the dark pictures mixed with the extra shading which really shows off the deep sculpt lines Jerry put in the cuts of the musculature. This statue makes me wish the Akuma 1:3 had a few points taken from this statue.

Yeah I get that too. Obviously if you've had enough Evil Ryu then this isn't going to be up your alley but this is definitely the superior Evil Ryu statue and likely the best ever.
Points for Beardy Ryu for me are:
1. Face looks older and matches the musculature better.
2. Defining look for this game, this era of Street Fighter and popular culture/trends in general.
3. Ryu has a BEARD!!!

For me I wish the regular Ryu didn't make Beardy seem so redundant. I feel like I'm trading a bearded head for a Gi top. Yeah the gloves are slightly different and the dirtier gi, and belt but since both can be displayed shirtless I do find myself wishing Beardy looked more tan and/or had heavier shading.
Shading really shows off sculpts to me. Would make sense too since he's older and shirtless and maybe spending more time outdoors so he gets more sun. Not as dark as Evil Ryu but somewhere in between. And I wish the beard had more hair detail sculpted in just my preference.
Does anyone else think they would like Beardy a bit darker/ more heavily shaded?
