I think it's interesting that I treat my hobby a little different to a lot here.

I don't consider myself a statue hobbyist, more so a franchise or character hobbyist.

Transformers being the main one, collecting, toys, prints, nick knacs and when they make them statues. Same applies to things like He-Man, Spider-Man, TMNT and several other cartoon properties.

Sure sometimes a statue will be so appealing it breaks the mold but the same can be said for prints, toys and anything else.

The issue unless you're getting something like original art, or MISB 80's figure then the statues are the most expensive part.

That is true but sometimes you get lucky. The key with this hobby is patient. The thing that I don't like with this hobby is the shipping cost that sometimes is insanely high once it has to cross the border.

Yeah, dunno why USPS and Canada Post never worked out a deal to make things affordable for regular people, who can't write off shipping costs the way that businesses can.

If prices for 1/4 topped off at $349, this thread wouldn't be here. Prices rose too quickly....

Exactly. I preordered the Diamond select cable and it is free shipping within US while to Canada the shipping cost is around 50 bucks. Might as well ship it within the US and pick it up. I couldn't imagine the shipping cost if I order 1/3 scale.

Too bad our pay raise doesn't keep up with it.

Yup. Everthing is doubled and XM is the culprit imo. I thought competition was supposed to lower the prices.

Are you talking about the African death threats? If so I think my wife is inadvertently to blame lol...

So far the purge is going. I've sold 2 more Bowens and 4 mini busts.

But a bought a lawnmower.

This is the perfect metaphor for where I am at in my life lol... not enough money for the hobby but enough to get the necessities.

Yeah...

Didn't realize the world of statues also included organized crime.

Some of it is fun, but more often than not those facebook groups make me feel a negative reaction.
