If you caught the trailer for this you know that at least part of it takes place in LA. I think that is going to be a good backdrop for the story of the birth of the virus/plague and whatnot.

Expecting this to be a fantastic series.

I agree, it looks and sounds good.

I like that they're focusing on the outbreak. Something most zombie material passes over including TWD which started with Rick awakening in the hospital well after the fact.

Very much looking forward to this.

Without question one of the last places on earth I'd want to be.

I wish more people felt like you, this place is way overcrowded with out of state folks arriving all the time.

Walkers should clear them out though.

I'm going to watch this show with a very open mind,

some initial thoughts on what little I know after seeing both trailers.

The second trailer is the one that really counts, the first was just a tease of a tease really. After seeing the second trailer, I'm wondering how much "series time" is being shown in the clips. For all we know that is showing the entire first season over weeks and weeks. Or, everything that happens in the clip could all be what we see in the pilot.

I'm hoping that this show doesn't move too quickly though, to where there are huge gangs of walkers everywhere. Actually I was disappointed to see some of this in the clips. The thing I was really looking forward to was how we'd see how tiny the virus starts out, and how people try to integrate living around it into their normal everyday lives and just go on as they always did, until eventually it becomes impossible to live a normal everyday life and everyone realizes that there's no going back.

If I had to guess I think the clips we saw will span over the entire season, and maybe by the end of season 1, we'll see the huge hordes of walkers everywhere, but even then hopefully they can round them all up and eliminate them, and we'll still see that they think they can contain the problem. To me, that is what I'd find really interesting, a show that is "trying" to be like 90210 but with the zombie apocalypse looming more and more and causing everyone's lives to change, it gradually becomes more and more obvious that there won't be a normal life for these people anymore. But I don't want to see another walking dead show that is exactly like the one we have now, where a group of survivors ban together to stay alive and walkers are absolutely everywhere.

Also, I did not watch the panel discussion video yet, because I'm thinking there might be too many spoilerish things in there, but maybe after a few weeks of the show then I'll go back and view the panel.

One more thing, I'm just going to ----- and wine once more that I'm pretty bummed that they aren't going to show how exactly the virus became what it did because that would have been very interesting to see. But since they didn't go that route, I'll just deal with it and maybe even try to trust the writers that they know what they're doing.

TV wise the Fear the Walking Dead trailer was the most compelling. I was contemplating skipping this one but looks like AoS, Gotham or Arrow is getting axed.
