Nice!
Would definitely look great next to the life size R2.

I know Stars Wars represents sci-fi fantasy, but i draw the line at concepts such as BB-8. It looks like a ball covered in R2-D2 decals. It does not represent the type of surface that goes hand in hand running over sand? It's these little things that Disney have green lit that is slowly killing off Star Wars.

this is for someone with more money than sense. you can buy an almost life size version that moves exactly like in the movie for a fraction of the price.

Same applies to automotive statues... just weird to have a car that can't move...

Umm, what?
While I agree it wouldn't work the best, I imagine BB8 would have a better time over sand than R2?
Or am I misunderstanding?

The surface of BB-8 looks like R2's, metal painted, white and orange, with panels, presumably dent proof. Not materials i'd associate with traveling over sand, rock, terrain.
They've always could have sent BB-8 style creation to Mars

Space wizards with laser swords, I'm checking a lot at the door as it is. I can easily look past the planning phase of BB-8's terrain troubles.

What's to say he's supposed to be travelling over sand/rock?
Isn't he supposed to be in space, plugged into fighters jets?
