Question Ikea Detolf Question

Do these keep out all dust, or are there small openings where dust still gets in?

nothing from Ikea is going to keep all the dust out, but in my experience these are pretty decent. Depending on your level of tolerance, you could get away with dusting the inside once every couple of months.

I have several of these and agree with this assessment. I keep mine in a finished basement and there has been very little dust that has made it into them after several years.

The only area for dust to enter is via the gap around the door, which is about 5mm all round, quite large.
I keep my Detolf's covered with a dust sheet to keep dust off and sunlight out.

Given the sole purpose of a Detolf unit is display, Ikea could have added something to the design to make the door seal.
For the moment, they offer the best unit for the price

I own 5 at the moment. 4 in a line, and a 5th on another wall. Soon i will need a sixth.
For 1/4 scale statues, extra work is required. I picked up some metal U-clamps and had thicker glass shelfs made.

Ditto. I have 5 and for $70 they are pretty decent.

They do a decent job, but you'd be smart to spend $3 on a makeup brush.

No. There's about 1/2 cm each side of the door window panel. IKEA has them for $59 cAd. Quite cheap since when it was first released, it was $99 and that was over a decade ago.

To close up the gaps, you could use some white weather stripping (about 1/4 inch thick). I used some white Frost King rubber weather-strip tape (5/16" wide, 1/4" thick) on mine. Seems to do the job. Amazon has it for about $7 for 17 ft.

For the Americans in the room, that's the same thing... In case you were confused.
