totally, because things are only cool and interesting when they're all like dark and brooding....right

Just read All Star Superman and you'll never think he's boring again.

Honestly I think a lot of people confuse 'boring' with 'cool' these days. Superman is not cool or hip, he's way too vanilla to make that kind of grade these days, but he's definitely not boring either.

It's also interesting that the so called solution is always to make the character somehow darker, despite the fact that this goes against the very nature of the character to begin with. If some people got their ways I'm sure we'd have entire comic universes full of only dark, gritty characters, which of course would mean practically zero diversity, which to me would be far more boring than having a mix of darker and lighter themed characters that can dramatically play off one another, and who can clearly stand apart from each other.

I think in comics...you do need some kind of edge. He just doesn't have it.

Plus in many stories that he's been written in lately..like JL...he's written as a little dimwitted and he's has his butt handed to him

I agree, Johns has been doing really well with him in Action, and Morrison on All-Star Superman has been quality too, and I have huge faith that James Robinson will bring the quality too. So there are good Superman stories being told, you just have to know where to look.
