I do the same thing. When I see a prototype, I usually wonder what will be lost in the production piece. Sometimes I wish companies would make the statues before putting them up for order and use the production pics to sell them. At least that way you know exactly what you're ordering instead of crossing your fingers that the decline in quality is tolerable.

Completely agree they are selling a lie, a lie we knowingly accept when we preorder. But I always wonder how many people have no clue the drop in quality from the piece they see at SDCC to the piece that will arrive a year later.
