i dont know if hes the "best" but my favorite batman story is the long halloween so had to go with loeb. hes written a few other goodies so its not a throw away vote

As it is, my vote’s for Denny O’Neil.
Plus, this thread really should be in the Comics section rather than What If?

I agree with wktf - Steve Englehart's Batman was fantastic. He did not write many stories but they were very influential to this day.

Denny O'neil, for me. If Dini were included he'd probably be second not just for comics but of course his work on BTAS and Arkham Asylum and City.
Third would be Loeb, followed by Frank Miller who I know everyone goes "ohhh the DKR" but honestly I think Year One is his best Batman.
The rest, some are okay, some I wouldn't even care to have on the list.
