Or Royd planting that price in his head

Jim was very surprised to see the SF post because he said he had never charged $300 for head sketches!

Wow, I sold Jim a Bowen Silver Surfer statue on eBay many years ago, I think the first few issues of Young Avengers had come out. In talking to him he would have paid me in original art, should have taken him up on that as his current prices are out of my league.

Those pages have probably tripled in price - but hindsight on collectibles is a wonderful tool.

Unless he charged different people different prices...?
I know for sure that a guy in line behind me at Sydney Supanova last month was charged $250 for a Hulk head sketch on a blank comic cover. Jim said that he charges more for sketches on blank covers due to how often they are flipped on eBay for high prices. Seems fair to me. So while I think that $200 is his standard price, there are probably variations depending on the specifics of the request.

That makes sense. But if he's charging different rates for different things, I wish he had a sign posted with the prices. I have tremendous respect for Mr. Cheung, and I don't want to stand there "haggling" with him over how much each type of sketch will cost. I did end up paying the $350, and he totally did a great job, but had I known there was an extra fee for the blank cover, I probably wouldn't have gone that route.

At WWPhilly, a very quick sketch, about 3x3 was $50. I didn't shell out for it.
