First ever pieces of art?
Hello all!
I was just going through my Itoya Profolios and came across the first piece of art that I ever picked up. It was back in 2001 and was a sketch of Espy from Tony Daniel's Tenth by an artist with the last name of "Peacock". I have a bit more info posted on it in my CAF, but I was wondering/hoping others would share....what is the very first piece of art you ever got? Is it still in your collection or has it long since been sold? Was it a con sketch, commission, or published page? If possible post pics! This is the peacock (and a link to it on CAF).

I went to my first con in 1998 at the Mid Ohio Con and the first sketch I got was from Marty Egeland. still one of my favorite pieces, wish I knew how to contact him to see if he could do a Planet Hulk in my sketch book. Loved his work on the Aquaman book.

Hmmm.... My first piece (which is loooooong gone) was page 2 of Amazing Spiderman 101 pencilled by the late great Gil Kane. I believe I acquired it in the late 80s or early 90s, can't remember... If memory serves, the classic page which featured the 6 armed Spidey in every panel cost a grand total of $40.

well, my invincible collection is still in its "noob" phase really. the first commissioned art i had of my Invincible museum was from Daniel Govar. i had ordered a few from Roger Andrews before this, but, they showed up afterwards. so, technically, this was my first.

I've posted to previous incarnations of this thread but for those not already aware 1987/1988 - wandered into a Sydney comic shop which had 2 pieces of framed comic art on the wall for sale. After agonising over the $150.00 price tag, I bought this one:
Deadly Hands of Kung-Fu #32 Frontispiece/Splash page by Marshall Rogers (featuring Daughters of the Dragon)

Nice decision. I hate to think of what I've pasted on because the price was too high then

My first art was a couple Guy Davis Baker Street pages. I think this would have been in 1990! Yikes!

I still have mine. Ron Lim was doing commissions and there was no way I was missing out on the opportunity. I was 15 at the time so this was my entire convention budget but it was worth it.
