TNG has thousands of bad / boring episodes. Ok I exaggerate, but do understand your point.

I actually enjoyed this episode. Gave us a bit of a look as to his reasoning and also introduced Cara Dune. I hope she returns in future episodes. It was a bit derivative but that's to be expected since the entire shows premise is basically inspired by another piece of fiction.

Wasn't horrible but Baby Yoda sipping tea carried the episode

Episode 4 was directed by Dallas Bryce Howard....I always look at who directs, produces and writes the episode. Team Disney seems to keep a lot of things in house

Episode 4 felt like a filler episode to me. I still enjoyed it but it was the weakest thus far. Still think it’s a very cool show and looking forward to the next one.

One aspect is going weekly over the binge model is not being able to see pieces as part of a whole yet. I could see elements coming back later.
To me, this was necessary to show why the Mandalorian keeps Baby Yoda. His instinct is to let him go, but now see that is impossible.

Exactly, he knows he should try to give him the best life possible, but with bounty hunters still coming it a. means he has to keep the kid close and b. there may be a larger threat that is still looking for him beyond those that originally hired him.
