Ok plan B, since nobody likes my MOD squad idea, how about this. There seems to be general agreement that Scott/Avenger is a fine choice, we let him be one. After that it is evident that 2 of the 4 remaining candidates are in the running.
Suppose we have a second run-off poll with only those two choices, and allow to vote only those that you agree should vote. IMO it should not be restricted to just the top 15 posters, since as Black Cat and others have pointed out they like to post there but just haven't lately, but neither should it be open to just anyone regardless if they have ever posted in FON or not. Suppose you set a minimum threshold, say 50 posts in FON and then let the voting begin.
Also the votes should not be public this time. JDH can see who voted and make sure nobody inelligible votes. Then whoever wins wins and all parties agree never to mention it again.

at this point tnovak seems to be the best mod choice (along with avenger) around here
maybe we need a logical guy like him who doesn't get too easily caught up ni the drama to help out

OK I am out, you all decide, i don't really care... i don't do anything here that needs to be moderated over...
the last think i will say at this point is I think we should just have one, Give it to Scott... I really think he is the person that could be most fair, and not be biased toward anyone else in this thread...
everyone else is clearly pointing out that they aren't ready for this position, with all the bickering going back and forth... it can really get old after awhile..
anyway that is my say, and I am outta here...
