Let's pretend that one doesn't exist on film.

Carpenter's run towards the end of his career has not been pretty with EFLA, Ghosts of Mars and even The Ward which was forgettable.

Last I heard, he is now involved in a reboot of Halloween.

Ghosts of Mars is actually pretty good when you give it a few more watches. But The Ward is bad.

Sounds like Doomsday will be a better Escape from New York type movie than this prequel/remake/reboot they have planned. Doomsday doesn't get enough love. That movie is an awesome homage.

This movie would only work if they simply take the setting of the original movie and make a completely original story. If they try to recreate scenes, characters or story elements from the original then it'll just fall on its face.

I actually liked Ghosts of Mars. It's nowhere near the caliber of his earlier works but still fun.

Agreed on Doomsday. It's a cool film even if it borrows just about everything from other films.
