There were inaccuracies ILM (and fans) weren't happy with, but those were due to some reference material issues (they scanned a smaller maquette which was slightly different than the animatronic/CG model), plus requests by Trevorrow/Spielberg altered it further. I had the opportunity to chat about the rex and other dinos with a bunch of ILM guys. Some real interesting stories.
Ultimately, it looked like a cross of the original JP rex but older, and a 'scientifically accurate' rex. It lost some of that charm in the process, at least IMO.
