The Velvet Underground (2021) - The Velvet Underground explores the multiple threads that converged to bring together one of the most influential bands in rock and roll.

As a Velvet Underground fan, I loved this documentary. I only wish a few minutes covered the few post-1970 reunions of the band members for a proper epilogue (beyond the footage of the Reed/Cale/Nico live performance in 1972 that ran during the closing credits). 9/10

The French Dispatch (2021) - A love letter to journalists set in an outpost of an American newspaper in a fictional twentieth century French city that brings to life a collection of stories published in "The French Dispatch Magazine".

Director Wes Anderson cranked his signature style up to 11 for this movie. 8/10

Ghostbusters Afterlife: 9/10

The sequel we all deserved.

It's basically The Force Awakens for Ghostbusters but completely succeeds where those garbage films(The Sequel Trilogy)fail in regards to honoring the source material.

Definitely an emotional ride and seems to be a direct sequel to the original film.

Belfast (2021) - A young boy and his working class family experience the tumultuous late 1960s.

The black and white cinematography helps makes this simple story about family profoundly beautiful. 8/10

The Spine of Night - old school animated sword & sorcery tale. It may have dragged a bit but once through it and all the pieces tie together it was pretty cool. 7/10. Lots of animated, bloody violence and nudity so this is not for kids.

Venom tonight - ehh. I like Woody Harrelson, but not so much in this role. CGI was good, but story was pretty basic and never really got exciting. 6/10

I've never heard of this one & I thought I've seen most everything sword-n-sorcery. Where is this available? Would love to check it out.

It?s a new film using the older animation style called rotoscope I think (animating live action actors). I watched it on Apple TV. If you like sword & sorcery stuff you will enjoy this one - not fantastic, but definitely enjoyable.
