1000 $?
Actually I have been looking on the internet (both on ebay and anywhere else) for some months but I never found one mint in box that would cost less than 2000$ (shipping excluded).
I paid the equivalent of 2900$ two months ago shipping and taxes included from a UK seller (themonstercompany: great shop for someone in Europe, I recommend them) and I was happy (You have to think that in Europe such a big item costs more than in the US because shipping it from overseas would cost about to 1000$ and that You should add extra taxes).
It's a fantstic piece and I very seldom turn it on.
So having the lights not working is not so detrimental.
But of course spending 1500$ for something that has something wrong is really subjective.
By the way, does anyone know how lights could get fixed should anytime something happen to them? (hoping nothing will ever happen)

I wouldn't buy it. Unless, there's a way to take it apart and fix the lights.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Thanks for all the input fellow collectors. I decided to back out on the negotiation. For sure it will bother me alot knowing those light should work properly.
He tried to lower the price to $1100, but i think I'll just pass and wait for a mint one.

Are the lights really defective or is it just the batteries being dead?

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

I'd pass on it without any remorse. There were MR Falcons that were sold under this price with all lights working. It seems the MR Falcon is going down in price lately. Besides that the bad thing with the MR Falcon is that the lights are impossible (or very very hard) to replace. So if they are damaged, I'm 100% they'll stay that way, compared to the new X-Wing which can have broken lights replaced.

I'm intrigued about the Falcon and X-Wing now more than ever. Gonna look it up.
I say pass on the $1500 piece with the defective lights.

It's not the lights that are defective, the problem is inside the base.
Some guy at the RPF board removed his "defective lights" and tested them and guess what ; they worked again.
Don't know the whole story but his conlusion was that the base of the Falcon had some very bad electronics inside.
