I was almost burned by marking down the value even though the buyer said he would take full responsibility if I did it for him. Next thing I know the package gets delayed in customs and the buyer files a claim with paypal. Fortunately the package cleared customs (1 month later!) and I got my money back. If the package ended up lost I would have only been able to file a claim for the declared value.

You need to protect yourself. Its not your problem he has to pay custom fees. He knew that before he bid.

THe only thing I do is mark it as a gift but never declare it for a lesser value unless I know who I'm dealing with.

Something else has been worrying me,the item I'm sending is from Sideshow and is in the original shipping box that has the writing on it that says what's inside.Should I somehow try to cover the writing up or not worry about it?

Another issue with stupid ebay bidders is when I see a piece sell for big bucks and then turn around and see another of the same piece go for significantly less. Don't these people know how to search and put listings in their watch list or even search completed auctions to see what they have sold for in the past?

Ive bought a lot of Sideshow stuff internationally (on eBay and from SS direct) and I've often worried about that, but it's never been a problem. And from an international buyers perspective, I have no problem with the full value being recorded. It protects both parties. Let the buyer know why you can't do it, then put it in the description for all future sales.
