Sean Astin is making it for the Adelaide show!! This is Samwise Gamgee from LOTR for the uninitiated.

Awesome news, another actor I know of. Don't forget, he was also Mikey from The Goonies

Sounds great! I heard it was a much better crowd than Armageddon Adelaide last year.
It bodes well for Supanova Adelaide in November

Oh yea, certainly much better than Armageddon last year. It was reminiscent of Melbourne crowds actually. Looks like with the success they might be back next year
I think though, much of the crowd puller was actually Sean Astin and the publicity. Seemed that most queues were for him and Jewel Staite.. Spent pretty much half the day in lines.
Overall not bad for a first time event, but logistics could be ironed out better

My plan for the Melbourne event is ignore both Patrick Stewart and Stan Lee and with a bit of luck, not have to spend ages in line.
I know the con is still on, but like Royd said, let's see some art!

It was too crowded for my liking and most booths were just crappy merchandise. The comic artists were the only ones worth visiting. If the guest actors really were intended to be the biggest draw card, then they should have been placed in a larger auditorium. The organisers were obviously not expecting that many people.
Hopefully the next one will have more guests, in a bigger space and better organised.
