Tequila Sunrise (1989)
7/10

Mel Gibson, Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell
What is there not to like?

Tequila Sunrise felt slightly dated. Dated in a good way. It felt like a well made film.
Admittedly the first half of the story felt like i was making an effort to stick with it.
Come the second half, it became quite enjoyable.
Carlos (Raul Julia) he add extra spark to the shenanigans.

I watched the DVD, and the audio sounded flat. This was probably made worse by the fact,
i had not long previously watched Top Gun: Maverick (2022) which looks and sounds amazing.
It might be worth checking out the Blu-ray version of Tequila Sunrise

Confess, Fletch - 8+/10 - What a nice surprise this version of Fletch turned out to be. The late 70's to mid 80's was a fantastic time for crime fiction including the Greg McDonald' Fletch series. The genre has been explored in other movies & this new Fletch' movie is as good as any of them. I actually prefer this new, Jon Hamm version to the mid-80's Chevy Chase films. This new one seems a lot more grounded. I really hope this is the beginning of a new Fletch series. -

Grimcutty - 1/10

Caught this on Hulu, I wasn't expecting much, but damn, it was worse than I could have ever imagined. Horrible story, horrible acting, horrible monster design. He looks like a mix of Jack Skellington and Gru from Despicable Me. Avoid this garbage at all costs

The Banshees of Inisherin - Irish dramatic comedy set in 1920s about an isolated island town off the coast of Ireland. Deals with the desire for belonging, purpose, and a general sense of despair. Has this often grim humor about delivered excellently by the cast. To see these beautiful shots of a place against the mundane lives really hit home the existential sorrow of the Irish (especially with the backdrop of a civil war).

Not for everyone, but I thought it was a deeply rewarding film that I had no idea where it was heading due to some unorthodox narrative structure.

9/10

Causeway - 9/10 (AppleTV). Jennifer Lawrence and Brian Tyree-Henry are fantastic as broken individuals trying to recover from physical and mental anguish in New Orleans.

Werewolf by Night (2022) - Follows a lycanthrope superhero who fights evil using the abilities given to him by a curse brought on by his bloodline.

Werewolf and Man-Thing were captured perfectly. The classic black and white horror movie style was also a real treat. 8/10
