Not the brightest, but certainly not the darkest either. They needed to split the difference or it looks like a completely different background.

I know it isn’t, but it looks like a really strong tan.

But I’m certainly in the minority here as most don’t even notice.

It just doesn’t bother me at all. In fact, it provides a greater contrast to the bright shirt.

Agreed, the dark hair looks better compared to it blending in with the top.

Looking at this pic is weird. I keep seeing Jason Mamoa's face ...but the skin tone doesn't match his face ...so it just feels weird.

Would've been a better suggestion to make a whole new comic-based portrait. JMHO
