Peter Travers of Rolling Stone has given BP 4 STARS!

https://www.rollingstone.com/movies/...rpiece-w516361

It's finally here – and it couldn't have come at a better time. Black Panther is an epic that doesn't walk, talk or kick ass like any other Marvel movie – an exhilarating triumph on every level from writing, directing, acting, production design, costumes, music, special effects to you name it. For children (and adults) of color who have longed forever to see a superhero who looks like them, Marvel's first black-superhero film is an answered prayer, a landmark adventure and a new film classic.

I could have sworn I watched a whole Trilogy from Marvel about a black superhero...

Sometimes I feel like people think super hero movies began in 2008 with Iron Man.

not even close, it was the first modern comic book movie, the first one treated with respect spawned 2 squeals and a TV series...

and I don't know about you guys but I certainly remember when Will Smith was "King of the summer blockbuster" so all this "WE'VE NEVER HAD BLACK PEOPLE STARRING IN A BIG BUDGET MOVIE!!!11!!11"
nonsense is really friggin annoying.

Don't forget...

Race should have nothing to do with this movie. It's sad that it seems to for some.

Yup, Black Panther is not the first, and by calling it the first, reviewers are actually revealing how racist they are from forgetting or not researching the matter, even if they wrote a positive review of this movie.

Not sure who defines "matters", but I'd argue Blade does have its place of importance in super hero pantheon. Could argue Black Panther and the whole MCU wouldn't exist today without Blade showing there was a market in a time super hero movies were rare.
