Dark Phoenix Saga is my favorite comic book story, I can answer that!
The bird is accurate as in the original story panels below, so XM got that right, but the color is wrong. Dark Phoenix uses PINK psychic energy, not fire.
In the original storyline before retcons and reinterpretations Phoenix IS Jean. She only becomes Dark Phoenix because Mastermind and Emma Frost corrupt her. So Dark Phoenix can do whatever she did as Phoenix including using the bird. She almost never has actual fire aside from a cover or two like UXM #134, the issue she transforms in (DP is only in UXM 134-137, just FOUR issues). She died in 137 and years later it was retconned into “The Phoenix Force” and it’s been altered to ridiculousness since then and at some point between promo art, flashbacks and revisits the pink energy became fire.
