Had some fun making a backdrop for the Sucker Punch statues.

I figured the dressing room scene with rough texture wall covered in vintage
posters might work well. I wanted something that was flat. After some
searching through the movie, discovered a moment to snapshot.

The size of the image was limited by space (obviously).
The scale of the image was achieved by comparing the 3 chairs to the size of the statue.

No problem.

Given the space available (in my IKEA Detlof cabinets) the ideal back drop size worked out at 48cm x 34cm

I took a snapshot from the Sucker Punch DVD of the scene in question. Blu-ray would have been better (i cannot snapshot from Blu-ray, yet). The snapshot was worked on (re_sized, added grain, colour adjustment etc) using Photoshop

Since my printer cannot print out at this large size, I found a company online that prints to canvas. They had a mega sale on large canvases. I managed to fit 4 images onto a single canvas (i only needed 3).

The cut down wooden frame provided 2 of the frames (i still need to make a 3rd frame.) The price was only £20 ($25) for one canvas (containing 4 images).

There is no sign of pixilation. The slight soft / lo-res DVD source adds a sense of depth. The result worked out well.

Captain Marvel Premium Format(TM) Figure 1/4 Sideshow Collectibles

Arrived today

Can't fault it. Looks just like the prototype. The colors look fabulous. Both heads look great.

Photo's shot using a Sony Cyber-shot 7.2 mega pixels.
Using auto focus. No tripod. Took 40, deleted 32 as they were out of focus (camera shake).

Catwoman Premium Format(TM) Figure 1/4 Sideshow Collectibles

Arrived some weeks ago. There was an issue with an eye, pointing far too far to the right. Sideshow have replaced the head. Comparing the two heads, the eyes on the new head are not as wide open as the original, which looks better.

The Catwoman base looks excellent, just like the prototype images, really well painted.

Catwomans black paint looks good. The grey areas work well and only show up under flash photography.

The head fits ok. As others have mentioned, the head fits in a loose way. Given there is no switch out, i wonder why the head was not fixed on without the need for the magnet method? (i guess it makes head replacements more straight forward. more on that later..)

Skin color is a slight oddity. I was expecting to see a pale skin color similar to the prototype. Under normal lighting, the skin looks very pink (they should have used the same color as Captain Marvel, or lighter). Under flash photography the skin looks whiter. A whiter / lighter / less pink would have worked better.

Photo's shot using a Sony Cyber-shot 7.2 mega pixels.
One with the flash off, the others with the flash on. The black backdrop looks terrible when the flash is on.

Ghost In The Shell - The Major 1/4 by Weta

Arrived today. First impressions, I like the statue very much.
The somewhat basic two tone color scheme of the outfit gives the statue a different feel to all my
other statues. While the statue is hard to the touch, the paint app gives an illusion of rubber softness.

The light up base works really well. If i wanted to be picky, the light-up section below The Major's
foot has light scratches on it. I can live with it.

Credit where credit is due, the production piece matches the prototype shots.

Compared to my Gentle Giant and SideShow stautes, The Major feels lighter in weight.
Once the base has been attached, the whole thing feels heavier.

On opening a new statue, the two main issues that concern me most include it not being broken (obviously)
and the dreaded googly eyes. Lucky enough my Major passed in both areas. That said, The Majors eyes do
have a slightly cold robotic stare about them.

That is difficult to answer. Compared to the prototype, it is no better or worse.

Weta have not nailed the SJ look 100% and at the same time, there is something SJ about what they've have created.
I'd say the mouth is close. Maybe it is the eyes that are throwing it off a little.

There is something larger than life about the face. It somehow looks more lifelike that Gentle Giant's Black Widow,
which is considered by most as one of the best, if not the best, SJ statue.
