Worst Thing That Ever Happened to One of your SSC pieces

True story :

I have been fortunate enough to get my hands on a Dejah Thoris Premium Format. A true gem of a statue, as many of you know : centerpiece of my collection.

Decided to rearrange my Man Cave a couple weeks ago. While carrying two boxes (one on top of the other), one dropped on Dejah and broke her two feet clean off !!

5 stages of grief ensued :

1. Denial : no, no, no, no, no... Are those really her feet scattered across the room ??

2. Anger : how could I have been so stupid ?!? I mean, seriously, I couldn't be bothered to take her out of the way BEFORE moving things around ??

3. Bargaining : tried to find another one online but they were all sold out...

4. Depression : maybe I cried a little but I am too manly to admit it.

5. Acceptance : got the super glue out and glued her two feet back on.

Now, it's our little secret.
Nobody looking at that statue today could tell she was once a feetless wonder.

But I know. Heck, I know...

How about you guys and gals, any interesting anecdotes to tell ?

My first collectible was the Alien Diroama (wall mount). As a brand new collector I didn't see the importance of keeping the packaging... until I had to move. I found a small box and stuffed it with styrofoam. Stupidly, I placed this small box next to the others, forming a pile that I intended on taking out to the truck. A friend that was helping me move lost his balance and slammed his foot right onto the Alien Diroama box. I heard the crack. Didn't bother opening it until after the move. The tail, fingers, arms, teeth, and neck were all damaged. Amazingly the dome only had a small chip, so I made an effort in putting it back together as best I could. A bit of glue, some sculpting, and touch up paint and he was acceptable. I still have him, partly because he wouldn't go for much being damaged, but mostly because I still like it. Recently I've been considering making it my first repaint project, it would also give me the chance to do a better job with some of the repairs I made.

Oh man. I hate that. I feel for you.

I had an incident last year. No damage to my statues, but the statues caused some damage.

I sold a few pieces and needed to dig them out of my box wall. The statues were close to the front, so I figured no problem, I got this.

Well, one of the boxes came lose and knocked my TV over. Thankfully the statue was fine, but my TV wasn't.

Had to replace the TV.

Well, on the plus side, you had an excuse to get a new (and possibly bigger/better) TV

While not huge damage alone, I had three statues all damaged in one fell swoop from one random act of God's will.

A gust of wind somehow found it's way to my basement window, was strong enough to knock over a framed poster I had on the wall, which then fell down and damaged my SS Darth Talon by scraping the paint off her head, broke an end tip off my XM Jean Grey/Phoenix base, and completely broke off the sword holding hand from my Kotobukiya DRS Psylocke ... Three of my rarest statues (at the time), all damaged in one stroke =(

Funny, I never even found all the pieces, it shattered so thoroughly. I think I found a finger under the bath mat in the bathroom next door like a year later. Luckily, the one thing that didn't break was the stretched glove hand, and I happen to find someone selling her on Ebay for cheap because his had a broken stretched glove hand LOL. Win win.
