Del Toro's The Strain Trilogy
The Strain trilogy was conceived by Guillermo Del Tory and co-written with Chuck Hogan. The story is about a vampire apocalypse. FX has won the rights to the story, with Carlton Cuse (Lost) as show runner. When I read the trilogy I always felt this would make for an excellent show, and little did I know that Del Toro actually intended to make this as a TV series first. I'm surprised that I missed the announcement which was back in September.

As much as I respect Del Toro as a director, it seems that if he's not directing, anything he produces or co-writes is mediocre at best. I hope I'm wrong, but this seems to be the trend.

I'm gonna bet that most of the writing here was done by Chuck Hogan and Hogan has written some great books though not in this genre.

This has the potential to be awesome.
Wasn't overly impressed with the third book of the triology but if it includes some of the characters from the series it should be good

This is a highly anticipated release for me. I'm hoping that it being on basic cable will not deter them from making this as gritty and gruesome as possible... just like the Walking Dead!

The books are on my list. I held off when I read it was a trilogy. But when I saw that ad on TV I thought it was for a pest control product or something...

So that is what that was. I saw this during the Walking Dead mid-season finale and I thought it was a Walking Dead webisode. Yes, I agree, that was underwhelming, but I am still highly anticipating this!
