Amazon/B&H for me, exclusively for new equipment. There's actually a stellar deal right now on Canon SLRs, I posted it over in the deals section. You'll save a few hundred bucks over waiting till after Christmas.

Getting lenses used is a great way to save money too, as apparently Mandragora wants to help you find out, haha.

There is only one place to shop for photographic equipment and that's B&H Photo. If you are lucky enough to actually be able to walk into the store it is amazing!

B&H also has AMAZING customer service. If you ever have questions about gear, just call up and ask.

Lucky enough is right, I've tried to go about 4 times now and each time they're closed. Too many damn holidays!
