How long does it take?

Hi all,
First time posting here. I've been sculpting as a hobby for a while now but the time it takes me to complete a project is longer than id like. I'm just curious about how long you guys spend making a statue?
Thanks
Adam

Depends on how much time you're willing to put into it and other factors like detail, scale, character, etc. Of course you don't want to rush anything, because you want to give your best effort. It really depends on the sculpture. If you're up against a time table, then I'm sure you'll get it done faster.

Like the man said, it all depends. Skill, subject, details. I can rough out a piece fairly quickly. An hour or two. But then I can spend 3-5 more on it. I've only done a few pieces, and busts mainly, so take that for what its work.

I took an IQ test and the results were negative.

Or if you're like me, you could sculpt for a few weeks, take a long hiatus, and come back and finish your project.

My quick advice -
stick with your original design! (I've spent countless hours redesigning mid-sculpt)
build a REALLY solid armature - this cant be repeated enough!
look at LOTS of reference materials (this forum is the best starting area).
Be patient
Also try to remember its not a race, just enjoy the process

Have fun!
