I've been pondering that myself. The first Darkchylde EX was a light-up base, I wonder if this will be the same?

Check out 'turntable by Alterton' on Page 1 for a cool 360 degree rotation clip of the Darkchylde fine art statue. It's 'No. 6' on Alterton's page.

Hope everyone is having a relaxing weekend!

Pop Culture Shock Collectibles is proud to announce "Randy Queen's Darkchylde: The Ariel Chylde Saga" 1:4 Scale Statue based on the hit independent comic book.

The Ariel Chylde Statue stands 29” tall, will be limited to 350 pcs worldwide and is scheduled to ship February 2012 with an MSRP of $ 320.00usd

This stunning piece will be available for pre-order on September 8th through Sideshow, Diamond Distribution Previews, as well as specialty stores.

Also available strictly through SideshowToy.com is an extremely limited exclusive paint variant featuring a black dress, blue wings and an art print signed by Randy Queen. With an MSRP of $ 330.00usd and only 125 pieces available worldwide this is sure to go fast.

2011 marks Darkchylde's 15th Anniversary, and hot on the heels of new collected editions from Image Comics, comes one of the most elegant and evocative fine art pieces ever offered to the collectible statue market. At 1:4 scale, and a leggy 29" tall, the smoldering, haunted visage of troubled teen Ariel Chylde with her blood red metallic dreamscape dress makes a memorable, and imposing presence.

“The tale of cursed southern teen who can shed her skin to become any of the creatures from her many recurring nightmares is one of the few independent characters to have been realized in comics, trading cards, action figures, skateboards, apparel, mini busts, and more” says creator and writer, Randy Queen, “so to see her 15th Anniversary celebrated with new collections, new comics and novels in the works, legendary director John Carpenter on board to helm the feature film, and more 3d product than we've ever had at one time is tremendous. Our goal with the fine art statue was not just to create another comic book sculpture, but to manifest a classical and memorable vision of the eternal war between beauty and destruction, between hope and despair. Everyone has their own internal monsters that wish to emerge, and I think that's why the troubled plight of Ariel Chylde has proved so resonant, and continues to endure as we position her in new media."

I love the black dress on the EX. Really makes the blood on the base stand out. Both versions of this statue look incredible.
