Attention Comic Shop Retailers and Iron Man Readers

here's the info i read today:

(edited for ur convenience)

""Iron Man" is going to be late.
"Iron Man" issue 4, being solicited right now in January's Previews, has been delayed until July 20th.

However, unlike other similar delays recently, Marvel and Diamond employees were suddenly instructed not to publish, email or communicate with anyone, including retailers, about this delay.
Which will mean a three-month gap between the already late issue 3 and issue 4.
It's likely this is because the schedule isn't fixed. So that it gives the creative team flexibility. And may well be tightened up in the future.
But, it's also possible the news is being kept secret because retailers often believe late books lose sales.
Damn. Here's the Top Secret Code no one is allowed to know.

JAN051839 D IRON MAN #4 07/20/05 "

if marvel keeps doing things like this, they will continue to lose fanbase. they are consistently taking a two steps back after taking one forward.

retailers know what this means to that order due in in a week or so. just how big a deal it is, we'll have to wait and see.

chalk up another great job by marvels merry publishing chedule. *cough*secret war*cough*

If it is in fact that late they can watch a whole bunch of readers walk away from this title.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

Sucks when this happens to a character you are especially interested in. Iron-Man is one of my fav's and July 20th is just LUDICROUS. I was even enjoying the first arc so far - but now - well - I won't even remember it by the time the next one comes out.

Do you think it's takes Adi Granov long to draw that way?

yeah. there are some artists you say "how's he gonna ever do a monthly book." john cassaday is the best example i can think of. they need a lot of lead time to get a good run done. Granov is no different he is the artistic staff. it may all be digital, with the occasional b/w sketch. but his rendering style doesn't have too many shortcuts. if u notice the last few pages of #2, they don't seem to have to same polish of the earlier pages and his covers.

here's an look at his process http://www.sofos.com/adi/tutorial.htm it's an old tutorial, but the he still uses the same principles. these days, pencil to paper can be skipped altogether.
