Thanks! No way I'll be able to put 2 pieces on 1 shelf (one of mine is about 30lbs on it's own lol).

Yeah, I'm gonna call around to some glass places and see if they can quote me on a price of it cut to size, that way I don't have to cut it myself etc.

Any tips on the reinforcement bars? Seems I'll be needing them as well.

Hey NullMind, any tips for the metal support rods for those of us who aren't able to get custom ones made?

I must say, I looked everywhere and could not come with a better solution

But in fairness, I tough having them custom made was going to be a massive endeavour ... until I spoke to a blacksmith, it was actually quite straight forward and not expensive, I advise you to look for one locally, you might be surprised.

Hmm not even something at Lowes / Home Depot? I don't know of any local black smiths but might have to start looking into it.

I saw that some people used these shelf rails and screw them to the front and back of the shelf, just need to get one that the inside bit is about the same size as the thickness of the shelf ... seems to help allot also

Hmm interesting food for thought. My concern still though is bowing in the middle due to how wide the shelf is.

I'm currently going through a similar set up. I replaced the plastic pegs with the metal pegs and had that setup for a year with very slight bowing, barely noticeable.

Since my statue pre-orders are starting to arrive, I'm looking to have two heavy pieces per shelf.. about 80-100lbs per shelf.

So my plan was to add two support bars between peg holes. When I went to drill the first hole I found the Pax is hollow so now I'm stuck on what to try next. Perhaps one bar per shelf right in the middle in place of the middle peg.

When you added your support bar, I know you went straight through to the outside but where you drilled was it hollow or solid in that area? The area around the center pegs. And how much weight are you loading per shelf? Thanks.

Here's what I started before running into the hollow issue. I'm guessing the green area I circled is all hollow? The white shelving is what I was copying but not sure how much support that's receiving if it is hollow.

Sorry I had not seen this post

you right, it is hollow in some parts, so I drilled in the middle in a bit there is a wood support inside, one of the holes had to go trough the hollow, but the other went trough the solid, so it's ok, if both holes went trough hollow i' be nervous too

I just purchased the metal shelf pegs you suggested from eBay. Are they strong enough to hold 300lbs as advertised? I'm testing it out by putting a prime 1 statue on it but worried it may still break. Do you think getting shelf braces is a must to ensure it won't collapse?
