I've always had this view of McFarlane and Liefeld - Lee and Larson still seem like more humble but still ambitious people.

I don't know the rest but McFarlane is incredibly ambitious... He is the guy behind The Image comics as far as i know. The true mastermind. He wanted all, he wanted to overthrowe the big two and rule the comics market but he couldn't make it there, yet got really succesful and built the 3rd biggest company with his friends, The Image Comics. I believe if the super heroes lose their popularty someday, Image can even be the number 1 comics company. Its none superhero comics is superb.
