I haven't seen the movie, but he never looked like that in the show. But Kaiyodo did do a similarly colored variant of their Vash action figure.

They're probably doing this variant for ppl who want to pretend this is Vash's twin brother Knives. 1. Knives had white hair. 2. Pretty sure he wore a black coat....
I'm loving the subtle imitation of the angel wing arm transformation though. That's just cool!

Vash sported that type of dark hair in the latter part of the manga :P
There also was a black-coated, dark haired variant of Vash in the MacFarlane line back in the early 2000s, wich was a rather succesful line (at least as far as my memory goes x).
