Zbrush newbie advice, tips, books to recommend.
I want to learn how to use zbrush. Are there any tips, advice, books to recommend. Is the software hard to learn if you are just starting out? I want to know from zbrush users if it's hard learn it if you don't have any experience with 3d software. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

The hardest thing to learn IMO is the UI. Here is a very helpful youtube channel http://www.youtube.com/user/rkingslien
Heres another helpful site http://www.zbrushworkshops.com/
IMO I would say scour youtube and vimeo for free tutorials. There is nothing wrong with the paid tutorials, but most if not all of what they teach( not their tutorials ) can be found for free by others. Ryans( who also teaches at the workshop ) youtube channel has lots of good tuts.

The user interface. Frankly zbrush's interface is CRAM PACKED with settings. It may seem like a burden at first but you will get the hang of it

8gigs is plenty, however zbrush will only use a maximum of 4 gigs I believe. Pixologic claims they will be releasing a 64bit version of zbrush in December. I'm not sure if it will be a free upgrade or not though?

Yes. I guess it depends on the kind of person you are I can and have learned "some" things about zbrush through books. But I'm the kinda of person that really needs visual aid so videos are better for me. Somethings are just better left to videos, I.E navigating the UI.
