Man you guys are 100 percent right about heat and this statue.
My Mermaid replacement arrived on Thursday. The alignment was still off, but not as much as the first statue. Maybe about half the distance or a little less. Trying Sideshow's two steps the wrists were not sitting flush with the hands and using an uncomfortable amount of force wasn't helping. Though being very careful to not use too much force (remember I'm the guy that broke their first statue so I know where that point is
).
I'm like screw it trying heat like the forum said. Used my small space heater in my bathroom on low setting for about 7 minutes. Didn't do anything special just put the statue in front of it. Put the statue back on the base and....it fits immediately. Does take a minimal amount of force (very small) to properly align the wrist whereas before they were too rigid to move even a small amount.
At that point I'm wondering how much money it costs Sideshow for all the replacements and dissatisfied customers when the solution is so simple. Also surprised heat wasn't included in their steps. Like if they had a disclaimer on their site that this may be a possibility and how to fix it, wouldn't that save tons of money? Though maybe they don't know?
Seems likely that shipping during the summer months is responsible for the alignment issues?
Thank you to everyone that mentioned heat. I'll have to remember that for future statues!
