The Host - Korea does the giant moster genre proud
Saw a korean movie called the Host. Great monster movie in the vein of Them!, 10,000 Miles from Earth, etc. While it may drag in some spots, and has very weird scenes that I'm not sure were meant to be humorous, and is in Korean, I highly recommend this for any genre fans.
Plot: The US military dump hundreds of bottles of formaldehyde into a Korean river. It mutates a fish like creature to gigantic proportions. Chaos ensues, yet one family bands together to save the lost daughter trapped in the sewer with the monster.
Anybody else see it?

I saw this last year as I work for KIA Motors the majority of my co workers are Korean and we saw this. I thought it was a great movie. And yes those parts are meant to be humourous, it was almost in the same vein as Shaun of the Dead only not that comedic. But it's a GREAT flick and worth getting if you don't have it already. Which of course is available in Asia.

I picked up the dvd at Wizard World LA after hearing much about the film. It's a foreign flick with english subtext. Though not perfect, I certainly enjoyed watching the movie. Any fans of big monster flicks should not pass this up.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

A wonderfully written movie. The creature FX are top-notch and genuinely 'real' feeling. I was not prepared for the humourous touches each character brings to the film but now that i've seen in several times...i think it's pure gold and truly hilarious at parts.
edit: oh yeah, you can count on the upcoming American version of this film ruining it for sure...so see the Korean version FIRST!

Anyone interested in seeing this great film, it just came out here in the U.S. this week in a single disc and a 2-disc special edition.
