Fisk needs to be involved in everything that happens from now on in Defenders related shows. One of the main drawbacks of this show was that Jessica and Luke had no real connection to what was happening, and while that disconnect worked for Jones, Cage was left a little lost by it.

On the Born Again angle, while they can't follow the story exactly, I'd like to see Nuke developed on JJones, and Bullseye take his place in the DD sections, to ramp up to Karen's eventual possible demise in season four. Maybe Karen won't be hooked on heroin or in porn, but she could accidentally leak the story to kingpin.

Oh it's coming..
Spoiler
I think with the "death" of Matt Murdock they can use that to take Karen down, maybe not to the level of the comics, but at the start of season 3 she won't be doing well. I can see that leading into a Born Again, not quite the way the comics had it but it'll be close enough that we'll be in comic-nerd heaven

Interesting.

I wonder if part of that not being in a good place will be from what she sees/does in Punisher?

They could use that. I think Daredevil will probably remain he strongest of the shows, but I also think now that the obligatory introductions have all been done we'll see some good things in all of he next installments of the series. Especially if the rumors are true about JJ getting Typhoid Mary next season, though I am a little curious where they will take Luke Cage, but I am hoping for a little Ironfist buddy action in the second season.

I'm actually really excited after watching The defenders, even with it's small issues, because all the other series seem to headed in good directions.

Oh, I think it did. However, it could have been a tease or even a simple tip of the hat to the Born Again storyline, we couldn't be sure. Now, with Matt waking up next to Maggie in a convent, we know ... that's where their heading.

Karen is off on her own now. She could go extra frail in the upcoming Punisher series or, the writers could just out Matt in some other way. They obviously can't stick verbatim to F. Miller's arc. & if Danny dons the DD suit like I believe he will, (to, like in the comics, prove that Matt isn't DD to the public), the writers will be borrowing from yet another storyline & adding it to the Born Again interpretation.

Personally, I would have liked DD to go another 2-3 seasons before rolling out the Born Again story. Let them really establish him as a street level hero. A little more rooftop swinging & bounding would have also been appreciated.

Just saw this analysis, which seems to follow pretty closely to what you guys are saying. I'm only through episode 5 and am really looking forward to finishing. Spoilers don't bother me as I evaluate my love for these shows based on the execution of the storytelling.

And isn't OMD a Spider-Man story? Do you mean Born Again?

I liked this series overall quite a bit. It was great seeing these characters together on screen. Daredevil and Cage are my favorites, but I enjoyed Jessica Jones and Iron Fist as well. Here are some of the things I didn't think were "super".

There were times when it seemed like the heroes were standing in a circle having lengthy chats. This was kind of weird to me. Maybe it was the camera angles, but it just really stood out to me and they could have pulled up camp chairs and been around a campfire a couple of times with some of those shots. I thought they should have done a better job with the camera work on those shots.

Iron Fist. I've seen some say they thought Finn Jones was much better in the Defenders than he was in the Iron Fist series. He didn't bother me as much as he did some people in the IF series, but I didn't think he was better in this series either. He actually came across as a whiney little kid a couple of times. I was surprised that he took the being tied up thing by those who were supposed to be his friends, "sitting down' so to speak. Based on his reactions up to that point, I thought he'd go ballistic.

Daredevil was good overall. I like his fight choreography, but a few of those cool flip kicks he did seemed to be so far away from the bad guy that he would never land the blow, and the final product on screen seemed to reflect that to my eyes, whereas I felt like the DD fight choreography was better in the DD series.

Jessica Jones was enjoyable to me in this series. She is a real piece of work, but she was a decent team mate to have and I liked her contributions both in dialogue for the most part, and in the fights.

Luke Cage was under utilized big time in my book. He should have owned every fight he was in. He is so much more powerful than any of the other characters that he would have b1!(# slapped every Hand character, including Elektra. It was a joke to me when he was being knocked across the room by 5'5" 100lb. Elodie Yung. The underutilizing of Cage was the most glaring thing in the series for me.

With all that said, this was still a good series and was great fun to watch overall. Looking forward to DD season 3 and Cage season 2. Heck, I'm looking forward to Iron Fist season 2 and Jessica Jones season 2 as well!

What kills me about these shows is, well most of them, after you watch it you're instantly looking for more.

It's like televised crack.
