AI to Denver

The 76ers have finally gotten Iverson out of Philly. Now with Melo on the bench the Nuggets still have a great player on the court.

Does anyone seriously think this is going to work out in the long run? I mean, either Carmelo's stats are going to go down or Iverson's stats are going to go down. That leads to less contract money, less opportunity to pad their historical records, less fan adoration for inflated egos, etc.

What other player in the league would want to play on the same team with these guys? Whatever that player does is going to be overshadowed by the antics and play of Melo and A.I. and I seriously doubt the Nuggets will ever win the NBA championship.

Of course, I could be wrong. It'll be fun to watch regardless of the outcome.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

A.I. gone, Coach Larry Brown may return to Philly. This is very good news for me:

Long term - this is what Philly needed - AI is a great player but not a great leader (see practice). Philly can redesign their team and their atmosphere and if they draft smart - can build a contender for years to come.

Denver gets a proven commodity in AI - now he needs to adjust his game - he has players around him that can perform - he does not need to take all those bad shots and he can pick and choose.

Denver still cannot play defense - but they will be fun to watch (and yes - I'm marking down the next Suns vs Nuggets game for a 300 total point contest!)

good luck with that

I am a life long Philly fan and love AI's game but he will want to be the show ... there's plenty of "I" in AI ... never really grasped the team concept.

Barkley left ...

AI left ...

at Least the doc stayed for a title

I see this as similar to the Terrell Owens trade. One high profile, highly paid, disgruntled player who's constantly involved in controversy gets traded from an eastern team (Philadelphia) to an underachieving (western) team that's willing to take a chance. I wonder how long it'll be before T.O. and A.I. wear out their welcome.

Good luck to all involved.

Sorry but the A.I. - T.O. comparison isn't correct.
