FF #1 Cover Diorama - Diamond Select

Has anybody else seen these pictures for this upcoming diorama of the cover of FF #1, by Diamond Select??

First in the release of pieces is Mr. Fantastic. My thoughts:

- even tho not a purist sense of the cover (costumes, Thing style, Mole Man present, etc), a good idea, tho LOUSILY (is that a word?) executed;

- a perfect example of "lifeless" sculpting, even when its in action poses - here's why Randy Bowen work is top-notch. It NEVER emits "lifelessness".

- Mr. Fantastic's limbs look like those legs on those huge 2-story air blowup flapping dolls that are outside of a car dealership in the summer, flailing in the breeze to attract customers;

- Sue Storm couldn't be stiffer if she tried;

- Mole Man is really apparently the Owl, stuck in the wrong diorama;

- Thing has been melded down to an absolutely neutral style...not early Kirby, not Bryne, not anybody........generic

I could go on and on, but it struck me how terribly bad this good idea appears to have been executed....curious as to the thoughts of others.

Yeah this was posted a while back. It was a great idea but some of the sculpts are off. Mr. Fantastic isn't too bad but Things face is off and Sue is very ridgid as you have stated.

that Diorama sucks...looks like they're just trying to cash in on the movie...could of been a lot nicer

I couldn't agree more with everything in the first post. but with that said, I'm still tempted to buy it cause it's such a great idea. Maybe if I can find it bargain cheap in a few months.

I was looking at the Reed piece last night in Jim Hanley's Universe. It's bigger than I thought. I really don't care for this sculpt.

Saw the Mr. Fantastic at the store last week and considered getting it for about 1.62 seconds. While not too expensive at $125.00 CAD and the pose looks cover accurate (isn't he supposed to have ropes that he's getting out of, without them he just looks like he's showing off) it did not thrill me. Then saw the images of the Torch (alright), Invisible Girl (WAKE UP... your in danger!), the Thing (wha? Which Thing is that? Half-porridge; half-rock, all- bored with life Thing), and Mole Man (looks nothing like he does in the Simpsons).

So what do we have: One huge, space consuming, rather unattractive diorama, that will end up costing a total of about $700.00 to $800.00 CAD.

Who green lighted this one?
(Doom?)

Another entry in the long list of Diamond Select's crapity-crap-crap.

It leaves me with two burning questions...

1.) Did Marvel hire either Helen Keller or Stevie Wonder to approve this garbage?

2.) Who actually BUYS this...this...sh!t??!!
