Hope the year they took since the first teaser has been used to have 2-3 of these ready for reveal in the next months, like they did with Mythos.

Stupid question time: Why does a Stormtrooper have a lightsaber?

Because that was part of the original concept that Ralph drew.

If they could do these they could probably continue the Mythos line if they would just drop the extraneous story element and just let the statues' artistic interpretation tell the story.

Awesome statues don't need a backstory.

they cant continue the Mythos line due to Disney not allowing them to.
and as far as them dropping the story line element for the statues would be a huge mistake. the story element for the statues gives the piece meaning, significance. and is a big reason why they are so intriguing. and why they were a big hit. to me at least. take that away and they are just another ordinary piece IMO. think about it. if these didn't have the stories behind them everyone would be wondering what the story was and people would be complaining about why there wasn't a story behind them..

Wouldn't make a difference - you can't just make a statue from scratch if the licensor wants you to adhere to a certain "canon" material.
Even without the backstory (which really, is 4 lines per character, so I don't think it's a problem), you still have a gamorrean executioner that never appeared in the serie. A wandering Obi Wan, when have we seen him like that, in the official material? Or Vader contemplating on Mustafar? Or Maul and Boba like that?
We all saw the pre-cyborg Grievous concept art, even without a backstory, the licensor knows Grievous never appeared like that in official materials.
If Disney's directive is to stick to what is now considered "official", there's no way a company can go around that.
Igo mentioned that they *might* re-use some old Mythos concepts in PF form in the future, tho.

I have been waiting for this line to kick off. I'll definitely be picking up a few pieces from this line. I have decided to pass on the Vader and Fett PFs. I am getting tired of seeing the same old characters designs recycled over and over again so this line is a great boost for me. It will offer new and fresh design elements for these characters and I find that very intriguing and compelling.
